Admission to MMSS as an Entering Freshman

Applicants must apply both to Northwestern University and to the MMSS program. The MMSS application can be obtained by contacting the MMSS office or by downloading an application from this web site. A strong high school curriculum, including a year of calculus, is required for admission. Students without any calculus background should take introductory calculus their freshman year and apply to enter the MMSS program as a sophomore. Freshman candidates may apply to both MMSS and Northwestern under early decision or regular decision. Click here to learn more about applying to Northwestern University.

Early decision candidates must apply to Northwestern by November 1st and to MMSS by January 1st.

Regular decision candidates must apply to Northwestern by January 1st and to MMSS by March 1st.

Although the MMSS program will consider late applications, late applicants may be at a disadvantage due to the limited number of spaces in the program.

You will receive your MMSS decision letter separately from your Northwestern decison letter.

For accepted early decision candidates, you will receive your MMSS decision letter by Feb.1st.

For accepted regular decision candidates, you will receive your MMSS decision letter 1-2 weeks after you receive your Northwestern acceptance (typically early April).

If you are waitlisted, you will not receive a decision letter from MMSS until you have been moved from the waitlist to the freshmen class roster.

If you are not accepted to Northwestern, you will not receive a MMSS decision letter.
